Organizing a small get-together-party is easy, but not when your preggy friend is about to pop. Someone needs to be the over-all organizer, a.k.a. the leader. And a dose of cooperation of friends.

For this event, Maricor was the organizer, the leader. She called each one of us and requested that most of us, if not all, will attend the baby shower. She made a reservation at Bizu and made sure that our preggy friend will be comfortable the whole event. She even bought party hats and balloons!!!! For the rest of us, we cooperated by attending the party, bring gifts and prayed that Bernice will not give birth during the party.

We ordered delicious food such as Baked Salmon with Risoto, Pork Knuckles, Molten Lava Cake, Cream puff etc. We shared funny and exciting stories about pregnancy, like how babies are made, the ultrasound, dancing baby while inside the womb, baby stuff etc.

Huli ka balbon!!

We always hear the phrase “Huli ka balbon!”. But what does “balbon” really mean?

According to Urban Dictionary, balbunin pertains to a human being who is extremely hairy. So hairy in fact, that their hair can be used as clothing. 

In Pinoy Dictionary, balbon means bearded, unshaved or hairy.

So now, the question is.. balbon ka ba??

Well, I am.

That is why I always go to waxing salons such as the Strip and Lay Bare.

Levels of Friendship

Most of us, if not all, agree that Filipinos are known for their hospitality and being friendly. But did you know that there are different kinds of friensdhip? Or maybe, different levels of friendship.

While browsing my Facebook newsfeed, I found out that there are Four Levels of Friendship.

The Intimate Friends
Intimate friends are committed to the development of each others’ character. There is mutual responsibility of open honesty with discretion. They are committed to work with each other toward becoming better people.

The Close Friends
Close friends have mutual interests and life goals. They work mutually toward reaching those goals. They often share similar values, ideals and worldviews.

According to TheOpenedBox.Com, most people never get this (close friendship) far in their relationships. Mostly, people jump straight from acquaintance to intimate because they do not know how to go through the friendship-building process.

The Casual Friends
Casual friends have common interests, activities and concerns. They meet more frequently that acquaintances and talk about common interests. They usually praise and encourage each other in achievements and accomplishments. Being “casual” friends, they are not that serious about each other emotionally.

The Acquaintances
This is the lowest level of friendship. They have occassional contact with very general knowledge of each other. They talk about general topics that won’t cause the person to feel threatened.

So, there you go! I hope this blog will help you know the depth of your relationship with your friends.

Power Touch

Paul and I went to Fishermall yesterday to go shopping. After long hours of walking and carrying our stuffs, we decided to have a massage at Power Touch.

Segovia’s Mouthwatering Mamon

Paul was drooling over mamon. Well, not a simple mamon, but a special mamon with butter and cheese that melts in your mouth. So, I googled “best mamon.” And voila, Segovia’s Cakes and Recipes ranked number one.

On our way to Segovia’s, I continued reading some blogs and reviews of the food and the place itself. I learned that  the owner is Carmen Segovia. She started cooking and baking since elementary (Grade 3). After graduating in 1983, she started her business.

As soon as we parked our car and entered a small gate, a little puppy named “Buttercup” greeted us. I’m not a dog lover but seeing this cute little puppy somewhat melted my heart.

It is unfortunate that Paul did not satisfy his cravings for mamon. It just so happen that when we got there, there is no more available mamon. So, we just ordered Ensaimada and Egg Sandwhich.
