Hole in the Wall @ Century Mall

Last week, we went to Century Mall in Makati. We decided to go there since we heard alot of it and became curious if what’s inside the Hole in the Wall.

When we went inside the Hole in the Wall, we were surprised of what we saw. It is a big food hall where you can eat food from different countries.

Macular Degeneration

My dad was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration last year, 2015.

Macular Degeneration  is the leading cause of severe vision loss in people over age 60. It occurs when the small central portion of the retina, known as the  macula ,

deteriorates.

My dad was refered to Dr. Amadeo Veloso of Asian Eye Institute, an expert in the field of Retinal Disease.

When went to Asian Eye Institute, we were overwhelmed by the courteousness and the attentiveness of the staff, nurses and other doctors. We sat comfortably on our chairs as we waited for the nurse to call my dad’s name.

When my dad’s name was called, he went to different rooms for the various routinary check up. Afterwhich, he was referred to Dr. Veloso for his final check up. He greeted us with a smile and explained well the condition of my dad, as well as the possible treatment. He entertained all our questions and answered them courteously and clearly.

We learned that Macular Degeneration is common to adults. It is incurable but can be contained by eye injection or laser, depending on condition of the eye.

Just Clinique it!

I am a Clinique lover. From eye shadow, pressed powder and lipstick to cosmetic bag, cosmetic brush and clarifying lotion, I use Clinique.

For now, I will share my experience with Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2.

My skin is very sensitive. Sensitive enough that I cannot use other products, even the mildest ones, without getting rashes. I am using Clinique Clarifying Lotion which is clinically formulated and allergy tested that is why it is safe to use. I just wash my face and throat with water and facial wash, apply Clinique Clarifying Lotion on a cotton ball and wipe my face and throat.

I’ve been using this product since highschool and never did it disappoint me.

Tom and Jerry

I love Tom and Jerry. I still remember back in 1990 when my parents gave me a betamax tape of Tom and Jerry for my birthday. At that time, having a copy of Tom and Jerry betamax tape was a piece of heaven. I watched every episode with gusto.

Just a week ago, I discovered a Tom and Jerry game at Play Store which can be downloaded for free. The game is basically the same as the animated series wherein Tom chases Jerry.

I really enjoy this game. And oh I just can’t wait to finish all the levels of the game.

So, Tom, you better be ready coz Jerry will kick your butt! Yipee!!!

My Chinese New Year Experience

2016… it was my very first time to celebrate Chinese New Year at Chinatown. Well, I have been to Ongpin a couple of times but never did I imagine attending their Chinese New Year.

My friends and I parked our cars at Araneta Coliseum and took the LRT in going to Recto.

We had our breakfast at Yin Yang Chinese Restaurant and tried their hakaw, pork siomai, kutchay, chicken feet and their chinese tea.

We watched their traditional lion dance and cheered with the crowd.

We bought fried siopao, tikoy and other Chinese delicacies.

We had our lunch at Fortune Restaurant wherein we tried their mooncakes, assorted dimsum and dumplings, pansit and seafood rolls.

We really enjoyed this experience. We will do this again next year.

The Power of Baking Soda

Did you know that Baking Soda is one of the most powerful ingredient in the entire world? And why did I say that? Here are some answers which I found in the internet.

1. Baking your favorite pastry
I love cookies! And one of the basic ingredients is baking soda.

2. For Household Cleaning
All you have to do is sprinkle a little baking soda on to a clean damp sponge and scrub away oil and grease.

It can be used to clean the sink, bath tub, microwave oven, frying pan etc.

3.  Instant Deodorizer
Most of the time our refrigerators are kinda smelly. It is because of the variety of smell of food and raw meat inside it.

To deodorize your refrigerator, just leave an open box of baking soda inside the refrigerator.

4. Whitens underarm
Because of constant use of deodorant, your armpits get darker and darker and darker. The reason for this is basically the harmful ingredients of some deodorants.

All you have to do is mix baking soda with water and scrub your armpits. This will remove not only dead skin but also remove the residue of your deodorant.

5. For cleaning fruits and vegetables
Instead of buying fruit and veggie cleaners, you can use baking soda. It is safer to use and not expensive compared to fruit and veggie cleaners.

Just mix baking soda with water and soak your fruits and veggies for a few minutes and rinse it well.

6. Whitens teeth
Most of our toothpaste contain baking soda. It safely whitens our teeth.

See!!! There are a lot of ways to use baking soda. So, the next time you go to the grocery store, you might want to grab one.

Lip Sync Battle

Dubsmashing or lip syncing is popular nowadays. In fact, there is an app which you can download for free and record yourself lip syncing to the available songs or lines from famous movies.

Last May 2015, I attended a wedding in Tagaytay. One of the games is dubsmashing or lip syncing. Whoever gets the loudest cheer will be removed from the game. And the contestant who gets the least number of applause will have to stay on stage, be declared the winner and will receive the garter from the bride and groom.

The first round was lip syncing “I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys. The said round was very intense. All gave their best in lip syncing or immitating the Backstreet Boys. Some of them even closed their eyes while lip syncing and imagining that they were actually members of the famous boyband.

For the second round, the contestants were made to lip sync and/or dance “Roar” by Katy Perry.

For the third round, the contestants were made to lip sync and/or dance “Breakfree” by Ariana Grande.

For the fourth round, they were made to lip sync “This I Promise You” by Nsync.

And for the last round, “Wiggle, Wiggle” by Jason Derulo.

The last man standing was declared the winner of the Lip Sync Battle. The bride and the groom handed to him the garter which he gave to the winner of the “catching the bouquet” game.
